Nice movie. The portuguese referances to customs are sadly soooo exagerated and not true.
I'm portuguese and live in Portugal, I had my 2 sons (now they're 34 and 22 years old) and I gave birth to them safely in a hospital just like all portuguese women do and have been doing for hundreds of years now. Midwives and home births were centuries ago when the only hospitals that existed were in the capital and faraway main cities. So it was a necessity and not a preferance.
Also, fortune tellers are certainly not popular in Portugal.
Cozido à Portuguesa is a very healthy, popular, delicious portuguese dish that is made of the cooking of different types of meat like chicken, pork, red meat and a variety of chorizos that are all cooked instead of stewed, accompanied by potatatoes and white rice cooked in the water all the meat was cooked in. It's so so delicious and very healthy.
So, though the film was nice and funny, I didn't appreciate the false and some exagerated portuguese referances…
