Reviews:
“Based on a true story, “A Murder of Innocence” (2018) is a crime drama with an obvious faith-based element since it involves a pastor’s family and their new assembly. While clueless critics write off the biblical element as “propaganda,” I found the honest communions revolving around God and faith refreshing and convincing. The movie tackles the age-old conundrum of bad things happening to good people. How do survivors overcome the invasion of evil and the tragedies thereof?

The filmmaking is on the level of a quality TV movie and I enjoyed it for what it is, a real-life crime drama involving mostly disciples of Christ. I appreciated the reverent ambiance and the honesty about how churches have to deal with things like jealousies and paranoid suspicions even while sincerely subscribing to a standard of love, which includes tough love. Really, the only flaw is that the story drags; the pace could’ve and should’ve been tightened up by about 10-15 minutes.

The protagonist, by the way, has the Clark Kent vibe down to a ‘T.'”

  1. The awfully slow pace at which the movie is unravelling is killing me! And the pastor and his wife are so fake and too proper and formal even amongst themselves and their children. So unreal! How did they even get an award for this movie is beyond me.

  2. I'd love to know who gave this movie an award. Terrible acting, terrible plot, slow pace, bad dialogue, worse writing.. I could go on. Very bad movie, don't waste your time.

  3. I heard about this case earlier. The movie is not complete. In reality, ten years or so later the DA discovered the final truth. It turned it had been the pastor himself who committed the heinous murders. He was checking the powers of both God and satan and the devil took over. Even in this unfinished flick he sobs and prays to God, asking the old man to forgive him. I noticed it at once.

  4. Well, I read the comments. Looks like the gaggle of atheists who descend on anything religious on social media.
Im not a Protestant but like the film. The acting is good and the casting was excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if told the Sheriff is a real lawman.
I'm glad I devoted some of my Sunday to this.

  5. This movie is so awful that it's actual fun!!! I think it's unintended to appear like satire, but it's so bad, so cheesy, it's worth checking out the clunky dialogue. I've met some lovely, genuine christian's, but many are daft. I think this movie is in the "daft" category… So, so hammy:) I'm not christian, I am a pagan, but yea, all the best to the cheese

  6. Anyone knows not to enter a crime scene. And then to sit at the counter and have a glass of water, right next to the body? Unreal! Contaminating the evidence. And the cops would not let the pastor, wife& son back in the house to interview them . Also a cop would not drink anything over the body. The locals cops should've called in the state police on this one. They seemed not to be able to handle a crime of this magnitude. I was raised in a Assembly of God church, so I was surprised to see that this church is the same denomination.
