5. That first comment is bullshit. This is an excellent film about a great woman who won the civil war. Amazing history of a great nation. How come all the great people in the positions of power get taken out. All these individuals will be judged for there actions. God help them.

   I wish More HISTORICAL Projects were this accurate. I read Authors from current times that I study, Rather than "modern Authors" interpretations.

17. It's sad she didn't get any recognition because she was a woman. Things have progressed a long ways since then and there is an excellent chance that the USA will have It's first woman president.

18. I like the story of Anna, but they have portrayed several people wrongly, and left out important facts. The emancipation proclamation came about because the African American's commandeered a steam ship with cannons, but also had vital information about southern activities. Lincoln couldn't just free the slavex when they ran for freedom, because they were considered property, and the rules of war meant he had to send them back, so he found a way around it by calling them captured war goods. Lincoln also knew that by letting the slaves head north, it was hurting the confederacy, because it was halting their farming, cotton production, and the labor used to build fortifications. He did need to win another victory in order to gain public support, because casualties were very high, and people were tiring of the war. They portrayed Grant and Lincoln's wife in such a bad and untrue manner, and several other thing's just made the north look like they were less than competent. This has to be one of the worst true stories portraying history on both the north and south. The story of Anna is interesting, but they made it look like she was the only person who knew how to do anything. If Grant hadn't taken over, the north would have lost, Sherman was ruthless in his campaign on the south, and after the war the south embraced him for his white supremacist views, and was part of the klan. The people who made this movie didn't do a good job getting the history right, or even putting it in where it would have explained more. Some northerners wanted the states to stay together, with or without slavery in the state's that already had it, but to stop new state's from owning slaves. Lincoln was of this mindset, to save the union, but knew he couldn't win without the emancipation proclamation. He did want to abolish slavery as the war progressed, and when he saw how the black soldier's fought bravely, and just as good as the whites. A lot of people died in this war, and many were handicapped, but also many wanted to fight to end slavery.

21. For a low-budget film, it could've been much worse. I found it quite good, especially Fritz Klein as Abraham Lincoln. He never disappoints in that role!
