Excellent film. Loved it.
Terrible. Riddled with inaccuracies and laughable storyline and plot points. Only saving grace of this 1hr 25min long snoozefest is the actors who while aren't the best, are actually trying.
It seems to be another director with big ideas about making a movie about ww2, except he knows in-reality pretty little about ww2.
It's not me being harsh on a film crew with little budget, in fact I appreciate what people can do with limited resources and I've seen movies do so much more with a limited budget, limited cast than this mess of a film.
Seriously, letting a high-ranking so-called Sturmbannfuhrer easily free by…removing his handcuffs before even getting him to the authorities? 😂😂 1000 IQ move
All the Germans in this movie are more useless and dumber than wooden planks. No plans, no strategy, no major reprisals, no using their brains, just canon fodder NPCs. It highly underscores the real danger and risk and the tough lives of the people who fought them during this era, all we get is just a couple scenes of them beating people up and we're told Ellie's brother was tortured. but otherwise, it just left me so bored, was just waiting for them to do something useful and smart for once, or anything whatsoever that contributed to stakes and tension, anything that actually put the characters in real danger.
and seriously, they entrusted the entire fate of Operation Overlord to….2 teenagers and 1 British SOE who doesn't even speak French? you cannot make this up.
And just gotta say thanks for giving me a good laugh, director… because I sure couldn't stop laughing when John and Ellie both put on German uniforms. It seriously cannot get any more ridiculous. There is 0 instance and no such thing whatsoever as female camp guards in a German POW camp housing male prisoners…least of all very many female camp guards wearing pants. 😂😂And of course the dumb German at 1:16:56 just stands still and hilariously gets shot. and of course every other German camp guard aims like stormtroopers and are no match for the badassery of the totally not underequipped resistance.
The director here didn't even seem interested in finishing his own damn movie. What happened to Von Richter after he was stabbed in the leg? How is he relevant to the plot? What the hell happened after Ellie shot up the entire barn? Did they successfully overrun the camp and kill every German guard? Did some of them survive and run away and inform their superiors what's happened? What happened to Ellie's guys? Were there any reprisals to the French after this assault on their POW camp? We'll never know!
Honestly, nothing much of respect I can give. What a total misrepresentation of ww2 and of resistance fighters. plus to add the fact that this movie isn't remotely based on any true story.
